Description:
Explore the unique habitats of the San Francisco Bay, including the intertidal rocky shore, dock-side ecosystems, a sandy beach and mudflats. Investigate the fascinating organisms that live in the bay and their adaptations. Meet a sea squirt, hold a shoreline crab, taste seaweed and learn how everything is interconnected in bay food chains. Take a special bus field trip to explore beautiful Crab Cove in Alameda. Study bay fish and their adaptations and make colorful fish prints. Observe and identify bay shoreline birds. Discover plankton in field microscopes. Create a three-dimensional bay model and experiment with the unique features of the San Francisco Bay. Learn about the problems of stormwater pollution to the bay and how to reduce this pollution at the source.
Our Explorers will also experience the open waters of the bay on a special boat ride on The Pegasus. Meanwhile our Adventurers will experience the wonders of Belly Biology on the marina docks.
