Watershed

  Watershed 2

Week Six, July 31 – August 4

Watershed Adventures: age 5-7 years
Watershed Explorers: age 8-10 years

Description:

What is a watershed? Create a watershed model and learn what you can do to keep our watersheds clean and healthy. Explore Lagunitas Creek in Marin County and discover a beautiful, natural creek. Study aquatic invertebrates and hike in ancient redwood forests. Visit Lake Merritt and explore this urban watershed in Oakland. Observe the special birds that make the lake their home. Adventurers will visit a special wildlife center by the lake. Explorers will go pedal boating on the lake. Visit the San Francisco Bay estuary watershed and meet the unique animals and plants that live along this shoreline — crabs, mussels, barnacles, sea lettuce, bryozoans and sponges. Follow the pathway of Codornices Creek as it flows through Codornices Park and the Berkeley Rose Garden. Explorers will enjoy a special camp fire, cook-out dinner, s’mores treats, evening hike, games and camp fire songs on the last day of camp.
